Florida wins an instant classic! Houston held a commanding lead through most of the game, but the Gators were able to overcome a late 12-point deficit, and win 65-63... leading for a whopping 63-seconds of the game in total. Truly a heartbreaking loss for Kelvin Sampson, a (future Hall of Famer) coach seeking his first title. The Cougars failed to score in the last 2 minutes of the game, stumbling over the final possession.
An absolutely brutal finish for Houston fans. But this game was a hard-fought, defensive battle all the way... and once again in this tournament, Florida shines under the bright lights! Surely a Final Four that will go down as an all-time great. And what a run by Florida... from winning the SEC Tournament... to being crowned champion at the Big Dance... congrats to the Gators!
